A very Special Story #PrideMonth

“Find out who you are and be that person” as Ellen Degeneres says; that’s exactly what team The UoMo Co believes in!
We are celebrating this very special month to see the world through a new perspective , through Rainbow – coloured glasses! Our main man this time is none other than Aniruddha Mahale – the founder of India’s funnest LGBTQ website GuySexual . Its probably Indias first blog on the Queer life and we love it as much as we love binge watching the Queer Eye on Netflix!
We wanted to highlight that every June is #PrideMonth and how Love brings people together. It teaches us to embrace any human form with pure love and dignity. Since the 1970’s , when the first Gay Pride Parade took place in New York, LA and San Francisco , there has been a tremendous progress of LGBTQ equality and we are definitely here to support that!
We came across some powerful quotes by thought leaders and wanted to share how impactful Pride Month is all over the world :
- “It always seemed to me a bit pointless to disapprove of homosexuality. It’s like disapproving of rain.”–Francis Maude
- “So let me be clear: I’m proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me.”–Tim Cook
- “This world would be a whole lot better if we just made an effort to be less horrible to one another.”–Ellen Page
Aniruddha is Bombay Based writer who is diverse, strong , confident and extremely humorous ! We got down to asking him a few questions about the city , his new book and more: over some delectable Iced Americanos!

Bombay Streets? Inspire you or scare you? – At the risk of sounding clichéd, it scares me how much they inspire me.
-2-
Your go to for having a good laugh? – Instagram. Nothing makes me laugh like a great meme account. Some of my favourites include InstaSingle, Kale Salad, Betches, CommentsByCelebs and writer Gary Janetti’s personal account.
-3-
A dream book that you think you should have written? – Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood. The narrative is so fascinatingly interwoven; it could be a cashmere sweater.

What project are you working on as of now? – I am currently working on the most comprehensive (and also the coolest, but that’s my personal opinion) dating guide for queer men, and it’s been commissioned by Harper Collins. If you identify as a gay man, this is your personal handbook for finding love, sex and long-term romance as an out-and-proud human being.

Must have clothing items every man should have? – I think a crisp white shirt is the most important thing every man should have in his closet. The white shirt is the golden ticket – it’s so versatile, it could be Radhika Apte. The essential white shirt/ that vintage pyjama shirt from the UoMoCo collection are prime examples of the same. Pair it with khakis, pair it with jeans, pair it with a leather jacket, pair it with beach shorts if you want to – you’ve got a winner every single time. Now about your comic timing…

Tell us more about your website and why you started it? – Honestly, I started the Guysexual as an anonymous blog with Homegrown back in 2015, as an insight into the often overshadowed world of queer dating. The blog began as a first person narrative, charting stories of my first date experiences with different men I’ve come across. Only when FirstPost picked up the column in September 2016 did I get a full idea of what I could actually do with my voice. Now, I like to think of it as an online handbook on living and loving the queer lifestyle – a pocket-sized handbook for gay/bi/trans men. The goal is to make queer culture the norm, rather than the niche that it nests in today, because queer representation in mainstream media is abysmally low. Over the past nine odd months, I’d had teenagers reach out to from all over the country – and they all want advice on coming out to their family. I once had a kid send me a long post asking for a step-by-step on how to come out to her parents, and the conversation I had with her post her coming out experience has been one of the most heartwarming moments of my life. It feels like a win, you know?

So let’s spread the love!
What do you think about The Uomo Co?
An extension of the skin, quite literally.
The fabrics are so soft and free flowing; it feels like you were meant to be. It’s clothing that breathes, clothing that makes you feel alive, but most importantly, clothing that makes you look really good. Like they say, it’s your one-stop sartorial choice from everything from the desk to dinner.
